I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with the very best family and the very best of friends! Just recently, I’ve been able to legally revert back to my maiden name, yay! In lieu of this drastic yet necessary change, Antoinette (my cousin) over at StructuredKC was kind enough to send me a celebratory gift; hence, why I have the very best family and the very best of friends!
Side story: there’s no quicker way to unofficially announce that you’re divorced than by changing your name in the company directory. I was overwhelmingly surprised with how many people noticed my updated signature; I was even more surprised with how many people actually probed to see what caused the change. They asked if I had gotten married, I responded with quite the opposite, actually & usually waited for the uncomfortableness to sink in – it was almost always entertaining.
Anyway, back to the celebratory gift – The Five Minute Journal. The moment I read the Dedication page, I was completely hooked –
To lifelong learners and doers.
You’re changing the world every day.
Two simple sentences that resonated with all that I’m trying to accomplish in this life. What better way to re-start my life as an Estacio than to change my world, every day. There’s so much chaos in this world, so much negativity that constantly entices us to give up – to accept the cruelness in the world – to settle for something less than we deserve. Well, I’m telling you that there’s more to your life, if you want more. I’m no expert but I’m almost positive it starts with a mindset. Five minutes a day I’ll spend reading and/or writing in this journal; five minutes a day I’ll spend changing my perception of this world.
So, with that said, I’ve decided to take you all on this journey with me, given that you’re interested in knowing how things go; I mean, I’d assume that you are interested, especially if you’ve read this far in this post. If you’re not, why are you still reading? STOP, go find something else to entertain you.
This will be the first of many volumes of my journey with The Five Minute Journal – wish me luck!
