I know I’ve been non-existent for the last few weeks or has it been months? I’ve been terrible, I know. I’ve totally neglected the blog & for that I offer my sincerest apology – please, forgive me.
For reference, I have multiple half-written posts queued up – let’s see, I’ve got a Hawaii post, one about the MyIntent Project & another about this personality quiz that V insisted I take. That post will surely entertain most of you, I’m sure. I never thought I could be so irritated with an inanimate object – but I am… still, extremely irritated with it.
Stay tuned for all that.. I promise I’ll try to get more content up & hopefully be more consistent.
In the interim, I thought I’d share a berry smoothie recipe that my cousin, Antoinette, shared. As with most Los Angelenos, my life is pretty fast-paced. I always have somewhere to be & I’m almost always running 5 minutes late – Filipino time runs deep in my blood *sigh*
This recipe is easy to prep for, there aren’t many ingredients involved and I’m able to bulk prep for 5 days at a time – that’s a win/win in my book. Alright, here we go with my rendition of a very berry + banana & some spinach shake
- 1 Carton – Strawberries
- 1 Carton – Blueberries
- 1 Carton – Blackberries
- 5 Bananas
- 1/2 Bag – Spinach
- Dark Chia Seeds
- Golden Flax Seeds
- Water/Almond Milk
You’ll also need a blender of some sort, I use a NUTRiBULLET
Step 1: Wash the strawberries/blueberries/blackberries
Step 2: Cut off the strawberry stems
Step 3: Add about 5 strawberries, 5 blackberries and a handful of blackberries to separate ziplock bags « I’m usually able to get about 5 servings each time I prep so I suggest 5 ziplock bags
Step 4: Prep & cut the bananas « 1 banana per bag
Step 5: Add one chopped banana to each bag
Step 6: Add 2 tablespoons of Dark Chia Seeds, 4 tablespoons of Golden Flax Seeds to each bag
Step 7: Add a handful of spinach to each bag
Step 8: Squeeze the additional air out of the bag, seal and store in the freezer
When you’re ready for the shake, you’ll want to add about 1/2-1 cup of water or almond/soy milk or a combo of whatever you want. Then, blend for approximately 2 minutes and BAM, a very berry + banana & some spinach shake is at your disposal.
